Where to Start:
In order to sell on eBay you must become a member, this is a very straight forward process. It is also advisable to set up a paypal account to recieve payments. This is a little account connected to your email address and allows buyers to send you an instant payment before you post off their goods. It is a secure payment system that protects both buyers and sellers.

What can you sell on eBay?
There are loads of items in everyone’s home that are no longer wanted or used and just clutter up the place. They are worth something so we just hang on to them and fill up our garages and lofts with them. Well, someone out there would love to buy those items from you -so that they don’t have to pay “full whack” for buying the same item new at the store.eBay gives you and the buyer the perfect way of finding eachother.

Here are some items you might consider selling on eBay.

Clothes:
I’ll bet you have lots of clothes that you don’t wear. Clothes that you’ve never worn, that you bought in the sale. Clothes you no longer fit into. Clothes given as gifts. Clothes that don’t suit you. Also consider parting with shoes you never wear, scarves, gloves, unused handbags. etc etc. You can make money from them all by selling them on eBay.

Movies – Music – Games:
Everyone has shelves full of old records, cds, videos, dvds, computer games. These items will be wanted by somebody and they don’t cost much to mail.

Bric-a-brac:
Ornaments, unwanted gifts, unworn jewellery – all great items to make money on eBay.

Plants & Seeds:
Do you have a garden? Well so do lots of potential buyers. They would love to buy plants off you or the seeds from your plants. Seeds are tiny and light so are a great item to make money on eBay.

Bargains:
Do you have access to discount stores, garage sales, boot sales, charity / second hand shops? It’s worth scouting around these places for items to sell on ebay. It might be easy for you to buy at these places but there are plenty of people who can’t who will find it cheaper to buy from you on eBay than buy the same item in their local store. Not everyone lives in the city.

Crafts:
If you have a hobby and make things then eBay is the perfect place for you to advertise your wares.

How:
There are two main ways to sell on eBay.Auction and Buy it Now.

eBay Auction:
With the aution method you set a starting price – this will be the minimum a buyer can bid and the P&P. You can also set a reserve price if you wish but it is simpler to set the starting price at the minimum you will accept.(nb Setting a reserve will cost you a small fee). Potential buyers will bid for your item (hopefully) right up to the end of the auction time. -You can choose how many days your auction will last.
Your item then sells to the winning bidder at the price they won at. You will automatically be notified in your eBay account and by email and then after recieving payment, you post off the item to the winning bidder. Its simple. You are guided through each of the steps by eBay’s automatic software.

eBay Buy it Now
With Buy it Now you set the fee that you want to sell your item for. If someone wishes to buy your item at your advertised price then they can do so instantly – no need to wait. You can sell several identical items this way.
Nb Selling with Buy it Now costs a small fee.

Describe Your Item:
Always be honest in your item discription to avoid problems. If an item is faulty say so. Do be as descriptive as possible – give measurements for size, describe the colour. State whether the item is new or used. If possible ALWAYS include a picture. A picture tells a thousand words. You are far more likely to be successful and make money on eBay if you use pictures. Your first picture is free.

eBay Titles:
Consider your title. Ensure it maximizes the product detail and includes the maximum search terms.
For example: If you are selling your old mobile/ cell phone put the make and model in the title. If you are selling accessories with it try to include that in info the title too. The more potential eBay buyers you attract to your advert the more money you will make.

Bear in mind that if you decide to sell large quantities of new, unused goods you will need to pay your taxes as you are creating a business.
However,eBay is a great way to sell your unwanted second hand items and you can do this tax free. eBay charges a small fee for selling your items but it is very minimal and is linked to the amount your item sells for. There is usually a listing fee for each item of a few pence, but watch out for free listing days.

Getting started online with an Internet business is not difficult, but you must have some direction and training if you want to be successful. It took me about a year to make any money when I first came online in 2005, and that was because I was trying to do it myself. Putting my systems into place was a big step for me, and will be for you as well. I am now able to travel every month without having to think about my business. What I do think about are the people who are a part of my business, meaning my students and the others on my list. Take the time to learn how to set up your shopping cart, your autoresponders, and your products. I also have several membership sites, so I make sure they are set up as well.

Choosing a niche is a big step for everyone. I let my niche find me, which turns out to be the best way to do it. Learn as much as you can, start blogging, listen to teleseminars and other training, and get involved with social media. Soon you will realize what you want to do online, and then it will all come together for you. For me, realizing that people wanted to learn technology from me was huge. I was taking what I knew for granted, and it turned out I was able to build an entire business around something that was fun for me to do.
